Been a long time, but this is IMPORTANT :)

Please help my children's school win $500,000 and vote 5 times for them on facebook in the Kohl's Cares Contest. There is only 110 students in the school and they could really benefit from this money. Every vote counts so please vote 5 times and pass this on to those you know. I want my children to see that anything is possible if you want it bad enough :)

There's never enough time

I always start the day with a list of things I'd like to do. Unfortunately before you know it, it's 8:00pm and not only have I not accomplished anything, but now I can't seem to find the list. Where do the hours go. I have read the comments left on my blog and honestyly they gave me the warm fuzzies. I really need to keep up this blog and will make a better effort to do so.

Iron Chefs Perhaps

I am not a very good cook. I can't follow a recipe to save my life and have been known to ruin toast :) I thought if I start my kids at a young age, they may grow into chefs. For Chanukkah we bought the kids a play kitchen, complete with faux granite and hardwood floors. Ofcourse they needed the right attire and here they are in all their glory :) I always hear how fast they grow up and to enjoy them while you can. I try to a little everyday

A block for Penelope

Let me start out by saying I am not a quilter - YET :) I can totally see going in that direction because I play with fabric just like I do paper. But there are a few crafts I want to try before becoming an official "quilter". I signed up to participate in a wonderful quilt project. Unfortunately, I forgot that I did this and appeared to be mia for awhile. Thankfully the organizers of the project, Shanna and Patricia were very patient and kept my spot awaiting my "return". Thankfully I started my blog again because this is where I was found. The color I had to use for Penelope's quilt was yellow. I don't have a big yellow stash, but enough to complete this block. I know to all the hard core quilters out there, it might be a joke of a block. The block is called Bright Hopes and I could not resist based on the name alone. I can't imagine what Kati and her daughters are going through. As a wife and mother of two myself, I try not to imagine it. I don't know them, but feel for them as if they were family. I know this block will be part of a quilt that will bring a special little girl lots of happy memories.

Monkey Love

Well I've been branching out lately in my crafty endevours. I am still a paper girl at heart. But there's something about sewing fabrics together to make a 3-d item that rocks. Felt has become my new obsession. I love the feel of it, the colors it comes in and the beating it can handle. I am a craftster junkie. If you are not a member, go and join NOW. It is a wonderful site with an abundance of information. The members are amazing and the swaps are a blast. I made this monkey for the ongoing Wish swap.

I'm coming back

Time sure does fly by. I can't believe my daughter started school almost 5 months ago. She is doing very well in school. Now as far as at home, I wouldn't be as kind with the grades as her teacher was on her report card. Talk about moody. Keep in mind she is only six. I've made a lot of personal promises to my self lately and figure, if I put them out there, publicly and all, than I have to live up to them. So with that said, in no specific order, my 2007 list of personal promises:

1. Get better REST - sleep sounder :)

2. Eat better - ENJOY "the no no's" but in a realistic way

3. Be a more PATIENT mommy

4. Find my creative "STYLE"

5. ADORN master bedroom, Jake's room and kids bathroom

6. Become a "BLOGGER". It actually feels good, almost theraputic

7. STAY organized. I have no problem becoming organized, it the staying power I lack.

8. Clean more OFTEN.

9. LOVE my family

10. LIVE everyday, not just the "special" ones. I have been taking lots of pictures. Of things I've made and received as well as family. We just recently took a trip to Disney. Ofcourse I took some great shot so the kids. I'll leave you with one of my favorites of my family.

kindergarten

my baby has started kindergarten. Jordan willl be 6 in November and I am in complete denial. When I was pregnant with her, I went in labor at 26 weeks and remained in the hospital until she was born at 29 weeks. She was so tiny. She weighed a mere 2lbs 13ozs. She spent one month in the NICU and came home at 3lbs 13ozs. With most newborns, crawling and walking are huge milestons. with Jordan it was gaining 6ozs. At two she weighed 18lbs and was still facing the rear in her carseat. My baby is bright and beautiful and a constant reminder of how fragile life is. She reminds me to take pleasure in the little things and be happy with what you are given. One day I was told my baby might not survive and now I'm the one whose having trouble surviving. Not because I can't be without her during the day, but because I've realized there is no turning back. From now on, she will continue to grow up and away from me. I know I might sound dramatic, but I have already seen small changes in her behavior. Her face looks different to me and I guess part of me doesn't want to let go to that tiny baby that once needed me so badly.

More Fatbooks

I have only done one fatbook - that is submitted my pages and received a book in the mail. I have recently signed up for a few more because the end result is awesome. It's a swap return that displays itself. I just finished doing my page for the Shrines bool and the Brown book. The picture on the left is the base for my Shrine page. I did add a window over the top.

I used dry wall tape and cream paint to make the background texture. I am really pleased with the way the brown page turned out. I love playing with stencils and paint and to give the "C" a little more punch, I outlined the stenciled letter with a fine tip black pen. I had my in-laws over for the weekend and so I didn't accomplish anything creative. However this week will be a very busy work week. I have Winter Inspirations deadlines due on September 1st and Ranger DT submissions to work on. Did I mention that my daughter starts kindergarden on August 8th.
