Seeing Red

I've signed up to do a few fatbooks because I thought it would be a good way to get back into the swapping game. One of the themes is the color RED. It is a favorite of mine, so I didn't thin that creating my 4" x 4" page would be difficult. I was wrong. The challenge was, where to add red. I have many neat collage papers and doo dads that are red but knew if I didn't chose carefully, it wouldn't work. I finished my page and again, I am pleased. A few more 4" x 4" pages and I'll be ready to tackle a larger size. Maybe a 5" x 7" will be next.

Altered Book Club meeting invitation

I received an e-mail on Friday with an invite to attend an altered book club meeting in Fort Mill. It happens to be 10 minutes from my house and sos naturally I was thrilled to accept. This group meets once a month and along with teaching each other new techniques, they also trade ATC's. I haven't made an ATC in ages, but because of the size, they are not very intimidating. I made 6 to bring to the meeting and must admit, I'm thrilled with how they turned out. Some took longer than others, but I'm learning when to stop. I realize that it's is one of the keys to becoming a great artist. The meeting starts at 6:30pm and I will be sure to post details upon returning home.

Getting started

is so much harder than I expected it to be. I'm not very computer literate so trying to set up my blog has taken alot of trial an error. It seems that my life has a whole has been alot of trial and error as well.

When Jake was born two years ago, I took a break from my yahoo groups and collage as a whole. I was so tired from having a newborn and a three year old to tend to that I just could not focus on art. I did continued to stamp and design for Stampington & Co. Inspirations magazine, which seemed like less work to me and just came naturally.

But Jake is now two and the time has come for me to get back to what I really enjoy. Since I haven't done a collage in about a year and a half, I really feel like I need to start from the beginning. Today I started by pulling out my supplies and sorting. We moved to a new house the end of March so I am in between studio spaces right now. My supplies are a bit scattered. There are so many talented artists I've found online and my creative itch is back.
